| Customer Reviews: I've owned Rolex and this Commander might just be my last watch! August 16, 2010 Hard2Please Watched the "watch channel" for about six months just to learn what all the fuss was about and would recommend anyone really interested to do the same. After all that watching, I knew exactly the combination of features I wanted and this was the ONLY watch at ANY price that fit the whole list.
You may not value these things as I do but you have to be impressed by the grand slam Swiss Legend has produced in this timepiece. The list included 18 jewel Swiss-made automatic movement, sapphire crystals front and back, black dial, rotating diver style bezel, date window, 200 meters water resistant, all 316 stainless with concealed clasp and under $300.
My only issues with the watch were that the winding stem came completely out and I had two separate bracelet pins break, all in the first few days of ownership. At the risk of voiding the warranty, I took it to Fast Fix in our local mall and he was able to correct all three occurences, each within an hour. I've had it about six months now and get compliments on it every where I go. It is a very large watch but I'm 6'4" and 265 so no dainty little watch would suit me.
Learn what's out there, figure out what you want and don't quit until you find it; having the "right" watch is a source of constant pleasure.
hude piece for giant man March 3, 2010 N. Primilsky (USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
this is really huge and heavy ...
it does not look so big on a picture.
Just don't like it at all, even if I bought it for the man who is 6'4'' --- not good
Commander-ing attention February 13, 2010 Glenn A. Perez (San Diego) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Swiss Legend commander is an interesting piece as I have gathered from so many different owners and prospectors and my own ownership.I will mention all I know and let you seek out your preferred methods of study.First off the specs are the real draw to this piece.*316L ALL stainless steel case, back, bracelet *sapphire crystal Front AND Back (Swiss legend may be moving away from using sapphire on all of their Automatic watches as they have been up to current consider getting some in your collection before they do) *Swiss Automatic movement (CL888 is the movement number)*dual deployment clasp *luminous hands and numbers *date display *unidirectional rotating bezel *big A$$ case size..etc... I think the watch is great and although some say the "sharp edges" of the underside of the case can be uncomfortable,it really depends on your particular wrist and more-so...your wrist...um...meat.If you have somewhat bony wrists, you may find the case can rest a little "on edge" on the wrist but really if this is your only concern get one and try it it is really a great piece and if you do not like it,you can sell it easy, everyone wants a commander...everyone.I have the blue dial and it is a deep blue purple and almost black-blue in dimmer light, very rich and deep in the light though, not at all garish.Lume is decent and application of all markers, lume, dial finish and overall finish are excellent. The bezel rotates confidently and smoothly and looks great in proportion to the overall piece. Some say the bracelet is a little light..when fitted properly and on the wrist..this is no concern in my opinion and I really feel the bracelet is adequate in heft and is very nice compliment to the watch.Clasp is solid and smooth operating and the fit is very nice.I actually find the commander to be quite comfortable. The Swiss CL888 movement is a bit of a hit and miss on the popularity scale amongst collectors.I have three different Swiss Legends with this movement and I DO like them all. Most are OK with it,few are naysayers, and some even think it is a great movement. For me I think is could be smoother even for its beat count BUT it is a nice accurate (as automatics go) movement and mine runs about +18 sec a day. That means that after about 3 1/2 to 4 days it will gain a minute..in a month 8 to 10 minutes. Please remember this is not a fault of design, there are simply different grades of automatic movement and they can be adjusted better or worse in terms of gaining or losing time and for $130-$200 price range this watch comes in respectably well and the accuracy is on par for movements of this caliber.Quartz runs within seconds a month...but automatics...are simply beautiful and are exempt from comparison to quartz in this way.All in all,I am a broad range watch collector and I have many favorites in my humble collection and the commander is definitely in the rotation.I hope this helps.More info pics and opinions with me and my fellow collectors and "geeks" over at watchgeeks.net. Good fortune in your watch acquisitions and wear them in good health!
